Blazers Week in Review, November 28

Week in Review:

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 vs. Kootenay Ice – 7-3 Loss

It was one of those rare games where nothing went the Blazers way. The Blazers had their chances in the first period and played pretty well as both teams traded goals for a 1-1 tie. The second period was forgetful as the Ice scored six goals, three on each Blazers goaltender and took a 7-1 lead. The six goals were scored on only 10 shots. The Blazers were out of the game at that point, but didn’t give up and scored two third period goals to make it a 7-3 final. Josh Caron was lost due to a elbowing major and was then suspended for three games. Tim Bozon, Brendan Ranford and Bronson Maschmeyer scored goals for the Blazers. Cole Cheveldave started the game, was pulled for a short span, but finished the game for the Blazers and took the loss in goal. Full Recap and Highlights.

Friday, November 25th, 2011 vs. Victoria Royals – 4-1 Win

The Blazers were in need of redemption on home ice and got that with a 4-1 win Friday night. Dylan Willick opened the scoring for the Blazers with his line mates Logan McVeigh and Matt Needham picking up assists. The Blazers outshot the Royals 13-6 in the first period. Chase Schaber made it 2-0 for the Blazers in the second period as the home team continued to pepper shots at Royals goaltender Keith Hamilton. The Blazers held a 32-14 advantage after two periods. The Blazers and Royals each traded goals in the third period, and Willick iced it with an empty net goal for a 4-1 win. Full Recap and Highlights.

Saturday, November 26th, 2011 vs. Seattle Thunderbirds – 8-2 Win

On Saturday, the Blazers cruised over the Thunderbirds 8-2 on home ice. The Blazers held a 1-0 lead after the first period despite outshooting their opponents 19-3 in the period. In the second period, the Blazers started to get on the scoreboard as Brendan Ranford, Cole Ully and Logan McVeigh each scored, and the Thunderbirds got a goal for a 4-1 lead for the Blazers. The Blazers continued their strong play in the third period adding four more goals to top the Thunderbirds 8-2. The Blazers had eight different goal scorers in the win. Full Recap and Highlights.
